In early September, my parents, my brother, and I sailed De Gæ Nok back to the shipyard in Haderslev for her winter residence. It was 7 hours of pure bliss – sunny at times, cloudy at times, pretty windy, 12-14 meters per second, most of the time, the exact sweet spot of a wind condition that the boat seems to thrive in the most. We felt like we were flying, and the whole thing was super joyful. I was consumed by a feeling of 100% happiness – and of wanting to hold on to that feeling, that moment, forever. Sun, sea, wind, my family. I had tears in my eyes when we hit Haderslev Fjord, way too soon. The season went way too quickly. But that’s how it is. We’d all be busy with other things than sailing for the remainder of the year. And before we know, it’ll be spring again.
